Grammy-award-winning singer Ricky Martin has decided to host a charity telethon on German TV to raise money for kids in his homeland, Puerto Rico.
The ‘Livin’ la Vida Loca’ hitmaker is teaming up with broadcaster RTL to host the money-raising special on Friday, to raise cash to build a youth centre in the north-eastern town of Loiza, Contactmusic reported.
“The idea is to build a centre, a safe haven for children that are at risk of exploitation, which is the main mission of my foundation,” Martin said.
The 37-year-old singer whose career has spanned over three decades selling more than 60 million albums worldwide is also the founder of a charitable organisation Ricky Martin Foundation.
“It’s just to show them another aspect of life they don’t know because of the way that they live. We need to show them the beauty of having a dignified life,” Martin added.
